Registration as an RMbGPT will be considered for anyone who has successfully completed The Diploma in Individuals’, Couples’ and Corporate Mindfulness-based Therapies & Mentoring (7504 DiccMT&M) and who has had an established daily mindfulness practice for over 12 months.

No clinical background is formally required for registration, but the Registration Board may require additional study or mentoring of people who have no previous therapy, medical or counselling experience to satisfy itself on the effectiveness and safety of the candidate’s methodologies.

Candidates who do have considerable clinical experience that can be recognised by the Registration Board of The National Society for Hypnosis, Psychotherapy & Mindfulness may apply for registration as an RMbT if they have completed the Diploma in Clinical Mindfulness Teaching (7501 DipCMT) – rather than 7504 DiccMT&M. This is a new regulation that came into effect in November 2014.

You may apply for registration as an RCEI when you have successfully completed Gentleness, Grace and Compassion – The Diploma in Emotional Intelligence (4202 DipGGC).

What is the difference between a National Society Registered Non-clinical or Clinical Mindfulness Teacher and a National Society Registered Mindfulness-based Therapist or Mentor?

National Society Registered Non-clinical and Clinical Mindfulness Teachers are trained to lead groups of people taking one of three “8+All-Day Programmes” – all of which are listed on The National Colleges’ Initiative Courses page here. These courses include programmes accredited by the National Institute for Health & Clinical Excellence (“NICE”) for use in the NHS.

National Society Registered Mindfulness-based Therapists and Mentors are trained to work with individuals, couples or with organisations.
