Karen Hodgson
I am a UKCP Registered Psychotherapist and class myself as an integrative therapist and an EMDR Europe Consultant Supervisor.
What is integrative therapy?
Integrative therapy recognises there are a number of ways in which human functioning and behaviour can be explored and understood. The specific modalities I use are dependant on your main presenting issues. The include:
Hypno-Psychotherapy
Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)
Brainspotting
Person-Centred Therapy
Solution-Focused Therapy
Psychosexual Therapy
Psychodynamic Therapy
Marital/Relationship Therapy
Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)
Mindfulness
Over 2 years ago, I began my journey as a therapist, training and qualifying as a Rogerian Person-Centred Therapist. Over time I expanded my skills and training to integrate other modalities that match client treatment needs. I went on to train in couples therapy with Relate, then trained as a supervisor to supervise the work of other therapists before training as a Hypno-Psychotherapist in 2003.
Two other main therapy techniques I use are Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Brainspotting. Both of these therapeutic techniques have been developed around the client’s field of vision and like hypnosis, they too have a powerful ability to unlock deeper insights that have not surfaced using traditional talking therapy.
I have been trained by Relate and certified as a relationship and couples therapist.
Clinical skills and experience:
I have experience working in a number of clinical psychotherapeutic settings, including Relate, the prison service, Cruse Bereavement Care, Student Counselling Services and a Well Woman’s Centre. I offer my services to insurance companies working with accidents in the workplace and road traffic collisions.
My experience to date has encompassed a broad range of presenting issues and my skills and training are diverse.
